Sorry if this has been covered but I can't find what I'm looking for. I know that there are currently pci cards for HDtv input and converters for monitor cables to HDtv so you can use your HDtv as a monitor. But what I'm looking for is just to use my monitor as a HDtv without using my computer.

Would the monitor cable/HDtv converters work by, instead of pluging it into the ATI-Approved Video Card (only ones I found), just pluging it into the back of the monitor and a HDtv cable into the converter? Please help. Thanks.

HDTV is a different kind of hard ware. you can only use your monitor as a HDTV if you bought a HDTV monitor otherwise im afraid its just standard RGB connection. you can use a monitor as a TV without using your computer though with the aid of an external LCD TV tuner box (around £30)

But if its HDTV your after im afraid youll have to buy one
