Okay, first I want to say thanks for all the help that I received in the past. My new computer has been put together (with help from my boyfriend and his son----his son did most of the work). Anyway, I made a slight mistake in buying the hard drives. Turns out that I should have gotten SATA instead of IDE. So, my first two are IDE. I want to get two more (I'm greedy, I want at least a TB)and want to know if they can be SATA. They are for storage alone.

SATA and IDE will work fine together. just make sure you have your motherboards SATA drivers so you can use the drives in windows.

also you may get an issue whereby you cant see the full amount of your drive space if you buy a hard drive larger than 137GB.

if this happens youll need this file called the large drive enabler to sort it out.

Well, now I'm wondering if I will need the drivers for the HD's. I know the MOBO will take SATA. My boyfriend is looking it up. I'm going for the 500G anyway, so that should last me for awhile. Thanks for the info.

you wont need drivers specific to the hard drives.. there should be either a floppy disk called sata drivers or you may have to boot from your mobo drivers cd and make your own driver disk
