Ok so this has probably been asked like a million times before, But what is better an MP3 at 128kbs or wma at 128kbs. And it the wma is better that what dose the 128kbs compare to a MP3 at a higher bit rate?
MP3 is better but isn't that good at 128. Follow the guide for EAC which is in my link and you can create VBR MP3's which are the highest quality available.
Thank you, I could not get eac to work properly for me but I am now using LAME with WinAmp and it sounds great.
I followed the directions from your link. I downloaded everything to the proper directories, loaded the proper profile, ram the setup wizard to install LAME and then configured it. But when I try to rip a mp3 it will only rip I wav format.
neither. both very lossy. .ogg is very good though.. .flac totally lossless, but not everyone has that sort of space on their HDD to accomodate 30mb+ per song. I am not to sure about winamp regarding compatibility, but with all the plug-ins available, I'm pretty sure it should be no problem..
The thing with OGG is barely any portable players support it. So if there's no market for OGG players then people aren't going to encode or download OGG files. Another format like OGG is called MPC. It is lossy but also gapless which MP3 and WMA arent. @ Dizzz Have you put the Lame file in the same directory as EAC?
OK so I finally got the thing working. I don't know what was wrong I uninstalled everything and reinstalled and it started working. My question now is what exactly do I type into the command line for lame. I want vdr MP3's with 128 minimum and 320 max. My goal is to have the best sounding MP3's I can with the target size of 5 to 10 mbs. This is what is in the additional command line options now. %l--alt-preset 128%l%h--alt-preset standard%h %s and right below that I have the bit rate set to 320. Is that how I want it set? thank you so mutch for your help.
