I searched this forum, but found no mention of this weird problem. I successfully used RatDVD to make a DVD folder, which I burned to a DVD, which plays beautifully on my computer, right to the end of the movie. However, when I play the same DVD on my television's player, it plays just fine to about the halfway point then suddenly quits. I tried burning a second DVD, with exactly the same result.

Anyone here have any thoughts on this?

    Regards,
    Phil

By quit do you mean freezes, black screen, error message or returns to root menu

It returns to the player's root menu.

The disk plays in the computer, although I note the video is a little jerky around about the point where it quits in the DVD player.

    My RAT version is 0.78.1444

    I'm using DVD-R media.

I don't know what you mean by book type? I do know the entire movie got burned.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Which brand of Media ?
I allways use verbatim or sony a bit dearer but at least you know you wont have media problems

Book type is available under options in the burn section

Is there a reason you are using rat dvd43 or anydvd and dvd shrink will do a back up a lot quicker than rat

Media - I burned it on a Maxell disc. When the first one gave me this problem, I burned another copy, but they both behave exactly the same way, leading me to think this is a software problem rather than defective media.

Book Type - Do I need to set this? Does this have something to do with one file spanning more than one disc?

I'm using RATDVD because I downloaded a RAT file, and did a Google search for a program to convert it to DVD. Do those other files you mention do the same thing?

I use Dvd decrypter and dvd shrink to back up dvds and have very few problems just burn the resulting image with nero dvd43 I found to be a good program but it appears to have been canned (copyright ?) for newer movies running them through VOB blanker is a good idea and remeber keep your burn speed down to 4 if available
Rat uses less HDD space but seems less reliable I'm sure some users wont like that comment
