hey, all. seems like a lot are having the same problems about the 'illegal disc' error with nero. I was searching through the forum and saw that everyone had their own solutions. I'm trying to back up some files onto a memorex DVD-R. I've backed some of my files using regular CD-R's but found it too wasteful. I have a lite-on burner. here's my log file off of nero. You need to get some better media, memorex is some of the worst media you can buy, made by CMC Magnetics (they also make discs for imation and many others). The error code means that your burner doesn't like those discs. Get some quality blanks from verbatim, taiyo yuden or sony, fuji, maxell (made in japan).
