I just put a computer together using an OEM MSI mobo, and didn't have a new video card yet, so I just put my old Geforce 5200 in the AGP slot. When I booted up everything seemed just fine, no problems at all. Until after about maybe 10 seconds the screen went blank. So I shut it down and tryed again, nothing. Put the card in multiple machines, nothing. I then put a PCI video card in, and all the computer components work fine. So before I drop $150 on a video card, I was wondering if perhaps my AGP slot will just fry it, or if my card was just old and gave up. I hadn't used the card for about 1 month previous to this. Any one have any ideas how this happened, ive never had a video card go bad, and it seems like a strange coincidence. Could have been that card's time to pass on. Only real way to tell if it's the slot, would be to test another card.
I was afraid that would be the only answer available, I was just wondering if anyone else ever had a problem with an AGP slot. I guess ill have to try another card. I would love to test my old GeForce2 32mb if i could find it; wouldn't mind frying that
