I am having problems burning DVD's using Nero. I am able to burn using a DVD+RW or DVD+R, but not with DVD-R dvd's. I switched from Memorex 8x DVD-R to Sony DVD-R 8x, but still no success. I tried updating my DVD drive Sony DRU710A to the latest firmware as well and still no success. I tried burning using CloneDVD as well and still receive errors. The only program that has continued to work is DVD Shrink. Does anyone know what I can do to resolve this problem. I removed iTunes from my PC because I read in another forum that other people had run into similar problems after installing iTunes. Here is my error log from Nero.

I checked out this burner's "recommended" DVD-Rs to use and you're using one of the ones listed...and you got the latest firmware...so it can't be that problem...

    However:

You'll need to free up some memory. You can disable some running processes that are not needed when using Nero...

A little too close to the edge of the disc. Try lowering the target area to 4400 or 4360.

That's all I can see that could be the cause of your problems. If Creaky was here, he could find more things that I might've missed...

I found the reason for my burn errors. There was a conflict with a TSR file from Musicmatch Jukebox 10. The file mim.exe was loading at startup which was causing my burn problems. I found the following instruction from another thread explaining how to remove this file from startup http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/207684

To prevent mim.exe from starting when you log into your OS:

    - Open regedit
    - Navigate to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

    - Remove the value with the name MimBoot.

To terminate mim.exe when you close the jukebox:

    - Open regedit
    - Navigate to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MusicMatch\MusicMatch Jukebox\4.0\MainApp

    - Change the value for "ShutDownMIM". Set it to 1
