I have a Plextor PX-716A with 1.09 firmware running with NERO 6.6.0.6. I can't get the disc quality program to run (the "start" icon never lights up). I can run all other tests fine, including the ones on PlexTools. I do *NOT* want to upgrade NERO, this is the best version that I have had to deal with for my burning needs. Is this simply a limitation of my Plextor?
All I can say is I am using Nero 6.6.0.1.8 and the disk quality scan does not work for me either. So upgrading is not what you [or I ] need.
Forgot to mention my burners a both Lg GSA4163B so if the problem is with your burner then so is mine.
Can both of you post a screenshot of your scanned picture(s) from Nero CD-DVD Speed? In order for Nero CD-DVD Speed to function properly, your burner drive has to support both PIE and PIF.
I will do so as soon as I figure out how. I might add. The quality scan works as it should with a CD but with a DVD it does not. I do not lose any sleep over it but if it worked it would be nice.
The Plex 716A does support PIE/PIF, but I also have never been able to get it to work with Nero Disk Scan. I have two Dells and this feature has not worked on these computers, so I have just chalked it up to the computer config. PlexTools does the same thing and works well so stick with it.
My Lg 4163B also supports PIE/PIF so it is a quirk of some kind But like stated above there are other programs that do work.
@arniebear, thanks for the info! The only thing I would like Plextools to add is the Disc Quality "score", simply because I am not sure what "good" PIF and PIE #'s should be. I get an occasional "spike" on the readouts, but they are usually averaging around 1-5 total.
@BurnGod Here is an article on Plex Premium, it helps somewhat in the decipher even though I only have the peon version. http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~noe/Plextor/
