Hi-Space is part of MPO, who manufactures themselves CDR.
    http://www.hi-space.com

The CDR (pthalocyanine) come in 3 versions :
    Metal CD (silver)
    Gold CD (Gold)
Carbon CD (silver+anti UV black coating)

    Old atips (cyanine, DISCONTINUED) :

    Silver :
    ATIP: 97m 16s 30f
Disc Manufacturer: Grand Advance Technology Ltd.
Reflective layer: Dye (Long strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)
    Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
    nominal Capacity: 702.69MB (79m 59s 00f / LBA: 359775)

    No problems

    gold :
    ATIP: 97m 16s 32f
Disc Manufacturer: Grand Advance Technology Ltd.
Reflective layer: Dye (Long strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)
    Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
    nominal Capacity: 702.76MB (79m 59s 38f / LBA: 359813)

Problems trying to burn a 79 min audio CD two times in a row : whole CD unreadable. I finally burned it on a Traxdata.

    NEW ATIPS (Pthalocyanine)

    Gold CD
    ATIP: 97m 25s 07f
    Disc Manufacturer: MPO
Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine)
    Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
    nominal Capacity: 702.69MB (79m 59s 00f / LBA: 359775)

    Tests :
EAC+Hitachi GD7500 : full speed, no error correction
Winamp seeking into an APE file : instant jump.
    I didn't try burning a 79 min audio CD.

    Carbon CD :

    ATIP: 97m 25s 07f
    Disc Manufacturer: MPO
Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine)
    Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
    nominal Capacity: 702.69MB (79m 59s 00f / LBA: 359775)

    Tests:
EAC+Hitachi GD-7500 : full speed, no error correction (opposed to Memorex black that causes many error correction).
Winamp seeking into an Ape file : instant skip.

After having my old Mitsuis (silver) dying, and reading at http://www.chipchapin.com/CDMedia/cdr5.php3#cdr-dyes that

"Metals commonly used in CD-Rs are gold and silver. Silver is more reflective than gold, but silver is more subject to being corroded by the dye and (over time) other environmental factors. On the other hand, silver is much less expensive and there are ways of addressing the corrosion issue."

I now use Hi Space gold.

I tested the above Carbon vs Gold HiSpace CDR (MPO atip) with CDSpeed.

I used two data CD ROMs mode 2 (form 1 of course).
Burned with a Yamaha CRW3200 EWK at 16x in DAO.
    Tested on Memorex DVDmaxx1648.

Gold : errors while spin up.
Restart after spin up has ended : full speed and not a single error until minute 74, where a burst peaking at 450 occured. Total 2497 errors, average 35x.

Carbon : starts at full speed. First burst at minute 56 : a peak of 300, then 450 at 60 minutes, then 600 at 67 minutesn then the memorex spinned down a little.
    Total 4464 errors, average 33x.

    Carbon burned at 24x :
From the noise, I can tell that the Memorex doesn't spin at full speed, therefore the test is not relevant. I tried twice.

    Gold burned at 24x :
First try : same as the Carbon : doesn't spins at full speed.
Second try : full speed with spin up errors. I restarted the test.
    0 errors, 35 x, for a 70 minutes CD.

Yesterday, previous tests showed the same : errors since 60 minutes on a Carbon CD, no errors on a 24x gold CD.

Conclusion, now, with these drives, HiSpace Gold CDs have less errors than HiSpace Carbon CDs.

The question about which ones will last longer remains unanswered until several years, of course ;)
