Could someone tell where I can download the drivers for my DVD burner. I am using the Windows XP drivers for the Sony D22A burner. I can't burn DVD-r disc. I think it is becuse I did not use the drivers for the burner. I bought it as an OEM box and I e-mailed Sony and they told that they do not support OEM packages. So I am out of luck. Please help so I can start to backup my GC games that require that they be backed up on DVD-r disc.
This burner is a re-badged Lite-On, see what they say at CDfreaks. http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=122093 You'll find the firmware there. good luck gringle.
Your drive uses the driver supplied by Windows Xp that is the IDE controller it is plugged into ! There are no drivers for your drive persay ! If you suspect trouble with the IDE controller not being updated enough -- best you look at your motherboard info to find what chipset you are running.. many use VIA ... and look to upgrade those. As to the firmware for your drive, that is another story -- consensus seems to be that the LiteOn SOHW-1653S firmware does miracle on that drive ! Whompus in here is the expert in that and may see this post to confirm. You can get those if you search for the firmware for your drive on GooGle --
I don't know what I need to do. I can burn DVD+r, DVD+rw and DVD+r DL with the burner but it will not burn DVD-r. How can I find out if it is my Mother Board drivers that need update or the DVD burner firmware updated? Why is it I need to update DVD firmware? Shouldn't the firmware work from the factory?
What kind of error are you getting when you try DVD-R ? --- If the other format are Ok like you say -- this is strange! Firmware updates are usually to permit additionnal media to be burned -- or corrections made to the instructions to give faster or less buggy burning ! Hacked firmware updates usually bring in additionnal instructions such as Region changes or increase of burning speed by tweaking a few parameters.!
When using the Alcohol 120% the error message is: Please insert an empty disc into the following CD/DVD recorder to continue.
Sorry but am not familiar with that Alcohol 120% -- all I use is AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 ! Nero has been put on the back burner for awhile till they get a version that has no bugs in it !
@Brewgod23 Yes and No; at the time of manufacture, that was the most effective, but in time between 'made' and 'bought' media changes, bugs come up, so firmware (mini re-progs) are needed. If you want to enter the inverting circle, please do so, but do it with updated firmware. gringle.
