hi everyone long time reader first time posting. im burning proprietary (licensed and legal) dvd's with a pioneer dvr110D. which format would be better to burn on for distribution, dvd-r or dvd+r with booktyping? you cant booktype on dvd-r can you? i already have 100 TY-r's, so should i stick with my -r's or would it make a big difference to jump to +r's and booktype? Also, im not really sure if my burner can booktype, does anyone know? One final question, does anyone know of any cheap sources of verbatim DL media and should I go +R or -R on that?
Booktyping fools players into reading the disc as a DVD-ROM which is the most compatable format. You can only use +R media. Older Pioneer drives don't booktype...At least my 109 does not. However, according to this article at CD freaks, ( http://www.cdfreaks.com/article/233/9 ) yours can booktype +R DL media: But apparently does not support bitsetting on single layer media though: I googled around for Verbatim D/L media but didn't see any very cheap. Maybe someone else knows where a good deal can be found.
