So far, I've used DVD Shrink for everything and never even heard of DVD ReBuilder. But, I started reading about it and read that it supposedly encoded much better than Shrink and had much better video quality. Well, I just did a test, with "Mystic River" to be exact.

I didn't see any noticeable difference at all between the too. Maybe if I looked very, very, very hard I could maybe see something, but really, I saw no difference whatsoever.

Where is this "huge" difference I was supposed to be seeing?

What do you have with your DVD Rebuilder setup (i.e. CCE SP, CCE Basic, HC, Rejig, Quence, etc.)? If you have DVD Rebuilder combo CCE SP (not the basic), then maybe you'll notice the differences. To see the differences, you'll need to watch your backup via big screen TV (i.e. 50" or more HDTV).

Evidently, I have a 55" Widescreen SONY HDTV with Hi-Scan 1080i and I can tell that DVD Rebuilder Pro + CCE SP 2.7 is 15% - 20% better than Nero Recode 2 or DVD Shrink with "Deep Analysis + AEC".

I was using CCE SP 2.7. I watch all my DVDs on my parent's TV in the basement, which is a 40" Widescreen. So, I guess I won't notice the difference. I guess I'll just use Shrink, because it takes alot less time and doesn't tie up my entire system when I have to encode, like Rebuilder does.
