Memorex aren't supposed to be too good especially if you have a Hitachi. You might want to try a Verbatim.

Ok... now i got verbatim.... the X360 try to boot, but i got a message that says " This disc is unreadable" ..... bla bla bla...
Anyone got that? it seems that the X360 read as a game cause i can even see "play game" on the X360 but after pressing "A" still getting the same message. Tying to play "PREY" Verbatim burned on a NEC burner.

So, let me get this straight: you don't need a mod-chip to play back-up copies of 360 games?

Forgive me for doubting you Tweedy, but has anyone actually followed these steps and gotten a game to work perfectly and with Xbox Live still functioning?

Yes, backups work on live work without a mod chip. You just need to do the firmware hack. I played NCAA Football 07 on Live yesterday plus my achievements hit for other games.

TigraoZT,

How were you burning it and did you make the backup yourself or download it? You may need another burner.

Awesome. I have no way of telling for sure if that pic is right or not, but I don't see why you'd be lying.

This is awesome. But what about getting the games? Can you order them off the people who sell them on the net and play em?

The gamertag pic's legit. Copy the pic's URL location (right click) and you can swap my gamertag with yours and you'll get your gamertag pic. BTW this is the guide you want although there is a more recent firmware for the Hitachi, look for file XTRM-HITACHI-7IN1-V1_2fix.RAR.

I have a couple of questions.

First can anyone provide a tutorial about newsgroups. I have searched the forums for hours and found very little.

Also when flashing the firmware hack to my 360 can i do two at a time if i have two sata ports and two sata cords?

Thanks everyone

This is the best newsgroups tutorial out there. It's a lot a reading, but worth the read IMO. Also you can only flash 1 360 at a time.

I have read this and several other tutorials and I am still having problems.

I have a hacked 360 with the Hitachi drive. A friend has let me borrow some backups and they work fine. I can even make a copy of the backup and that works fine so I know it is not a burner or media issue.

I downloaded two games online. They both said prepatched.

The first one has 50 parts that are in .rar format. When I go to extract any one of these they all have the same file in them. It is a .000 file that are all the same size, ~7GB. There is also a .sfv file that is 1.46kb, and a MSinfo document that is 169 bytes.

The second game had individual files with extensions of .001, .002, .003... .073. All of these files are 95.3MB. This also has the .sfv and the MSinfo files. I used a program to join the files (I think at least this is right).

This is where I am stuck. I have already made several coasters. If anyone can understand what I am talking about and guide me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. I know this was a lot of reading.

No you don't join anything. That's most likely old style WinRAR. Open the file with WinRAR and try to extract it. Also get the lasted version of CloneCD by Slysoft. I think it's 5.9.1.2. Burn the DVD file in clone CD. It's like a cue/bin file. CloneCD will know what to do with the multiple files. Depending how how the game was backed up it can either be a DVD file and one big file or several 1GB or so sized files.

BTW: are all 360 games on DVD-9 , it varies?

ALSO: your tut seems to be center around warez, thats not what i do. i will be backing up my own games. so how do i image my own games and burn them the same way?

Did you read the pdf file I posted? It tells you how to backup your own games. It's a pain though. You have to reflash your 360 everytime. Also games are only on DVD-9.

Memnock your the man, it worked!!!

But I still can't get my first scenario to work.
I have 50 rar files. When I extract one I get a file that is ~7gb. It is like this for all of them, but I do not get the .dvd file that showed up when I extracted the other game. When I try to use XBOX360 SS merger to create one I can not get both boxes to turn green. I get a message that says "This game is not on file". What am I doing wrong on this one?

hi, u all sayin copyin ur own games is a pain because u have to re-flash ur xbox 360 dvd drive. but before there were lots of links sayin u cud rip the games using a external DL dvd writer on ur pc?

wheres all dat info gone now? i cant find links but i remember u needed a DL DVD with data on as big as 7+ gb (in other words bigger than the xbox 360 game dvd itself) den u use 360 ripper to extract the files. where;s that method gone?
it seems simpler den the rest?

yeah man, i really need a way to eaisly backup my own games and boot them hasslelessly.
BTW: dont worry if some DVD file is over teh dics limit, when the image mounts to burn it will fit.- like a 800MB bin file when cued it will fit on cd

peace

mgdeftone,

I'd need to know what rip you have. It may not me a good one or already patched. You can PM me, because I don't hink you can discuss rips here like that.
