Hello everyone,

I use to play mostly on computer, in i like GTA San Andreas, i know some versions of many games vary on platforms they are into. I noticed that on PC, you can mod the cars, players, map, skins and even more (i got to say it's fun to play with a nice BMW or Shelby GT500 instead of a yellow cab but never tryed the maps.
Anyway, when i looked into the content of the ps2 game, i was surprised to see pretty much the same files (only different size), so i was wondering:
Can i possibly mod my backup of the ps2 version so i can play with my brand new Porsche Carrera 4S ?

I know the files get bigger when i change them so i have to stay in the "4.30Gb" but i'm sure it can work but does anyone did or tryed it? i don't want to put to much in the garbage.

Thank you.

Ok if you have the thick ps2 your ganna needa few things you have about 2 choices a mod chip to let you play copied games or some hard drive that has 40 GB allowing you to store games but they say they dont sell them anymore so try ebay or something. Now if you have a slim ps2 your in luck and its easier again a mod chip but your other choice would be swap magic 3 kit comes with a flip top cover a sawp magic disc and some tool to remove the disc swap magic allows you to play BACKUP GAMES. Oh and like those other guys said you need to install the files from GTA Sa onto your computer mod them there and burn them on to a writeable disc I prefer dvd-r since people say they get less proplems

I've got a question

If you have gta sa on ps2 but you are using a ps3 that can play ps3 2 and 1 games can you get a mod for gta sa that can work on a ps3 and actually works.

thanks :) =)

It works. Mod it just like you would a normal pc version but a little differently.

1. Extract with isobuster and save your LBA
2. Use IMG Tool 2.0 and open GTA3.IMG which should be located in the MODELS folder (you might need to delete the files then add)
3. Replace the files you want and rebuild archive
4. Rebuild the game image according to LBA using either cdvdgen from sony or cdgen 3.0 (i prefer sony cdvdgen)
5. Save to IML with cdvdgen or save to image with cdgen
6. Use IML2ISO or another program to make an ISO if using sony cdvdgen and burn

Now if you don't want to go through the whole rebuilding process just make sure you're not making the GTA3.IMG bigger. Extract ONLY the GTA3.IMG file, and do steps 2 and 3 then use a program like ISO Relinker or Apache 3 to replae the file in the ISO, then burn.

Now a big problem is how many polygons the car or object is. If the mod has too many polygons the frames will be unbelievably slow or the game will just freeze. If this happens you might not be able to use that mod.
explain in a way a 20 year old can understand
