All due respect, the compatibility list only covers what is compatible with xbox not action replay. Is there an action replay list?

Action Replay is designed to be used with an 'Action Replay', not USB. The fact that we get it to work at all is a miracle!

I have no list, only the one I've started at the bottom of the thread which people have had success with!

One to add to your confirmed list, SanDisk cruiser 1 GB. Lexar Jumpdrive Secure 256MB doesn't work with AR but does with Xbox.

    w00t! I'm happy now!

And only 18 bucks at wally world!

Success! No problems at all using a Sandisk Cruzer Mini 1.0GB.

The interesting thing is that on the compatibility page, it is listed as not working:

"SanDisk Cruzer mini 1.0 GB - WILL BE RECOGNIZED AND FORMATTED, but then any write attempts will end in 'The copy failed'".

I didn't experience this at all. I did format it in windows first as FAT32 before connecting it to the XBOX. Not sure if that made a difference.

It's been quite a wait, but yesterday morning my new USB stick arrived in the post and i sucessfully softmodded my XBOX!

I used a 1GB Kingston Data Traveller from DVD.co.uk, it only cost £1.50 (plus P+P) and it worked like a charm, followed the instructions word for word and had no problems what so ever :D

Thank you all so much for your help, guidance and patience and an especially huge thank you to chunkhead :)

    Later guys!
    Thanks again
    Jimi

Awesome, great news! Which version of the 'Datatraveler' did you get (Mini, Secure, etc) or was it just the Datatraveler?

Your info has been added to the list!

It was just the Data Traveller, not Secure or Mini just normal :) quick question, just used the same stuff to do this to my mates xbox backed up the EEPROM and MS Dash etc.. but when it boots up it goes to the normal MS Dash and the light at the front stays red, but he can still play backed up games is this a problem?

This exact thing happened to me. You need to set the proper date and time in the MS Dash. Then it will boot into the new dashboard.

    Yeah, what he said ^^^!

You really need to be aware of this problem, can cause a lot of headaches if not set correctly!

For example, if you leave it blank, it defaults to like January 01, 2004.

If you try to play a game that was made in May 2005, it will more then likely freak out!

    ;)

aha! indeed that did solve the issue :p my sockets are overloaded constantly so whenever im out of the house i turn the ones upstairs off for safety reasons so everytime i turn my xbox on im gonna have to reset the time and date but i think i can live with that :D

also noticed that even in the new dash the LED stayed red, but quickly found that it's because the setting was set to default, - changed it to green and job done ;)

    Thanks for the help dudes!

It's red by default for a reason. If it's green, how do you know it's in "modded" mode?

It's really helpful to know which you are in! I personally like the 'Cycle'

No, the Xbox must be modded. The USB tutorial is actually part of the modding itself.

Read through my tutorials (Click on my signature), especially Softmodding.

You are aware that I'm talking about the Original Black Xbox, not 360...

I've got a 1GB DataTraveler and it just says unable to mount when I insert it in my XBOX. I've had it a while so maybe it's serial numbers or something.

hmmm, as i said i managed to do it with the same usb stick you have and it worked straight out of the box.. dont be offended by the n00bish question but did you change the correct VID and PID numbers? and it may also be worth formatting the stick to FAT or FAT 32 and THEN letting xbox format it and trying again
