Hi Guys
I have updated my Starview 1 many times before with complete success, but all of a sudden I have lost loads of channels including the free to air channels such as BBC1, 2, ITV, etc. I have updated the fimware and rescaned but only get about 80 channels, is there anything I can do or has my box had it.
Thanks for a great forum

Hi Celtic71
Did all exactly as you said, but only pulled in six channels.
Don't know what else to try, would the box need to be jtagged for some reason or another.

Hey
Im having some trouble updating my Starview box so im looking for some help.
I've in Ireland, im unsure if i have Starview 1 or 2 (or if there is a difference).
In my system information it says:
STARVIEW
API ver: 4.00e_E
Boot ver: 7.0
7.Jun.2007
At the moment i have the null modem cable connected to the box with GTRom v4.00 open and im trying to download - thebox_Ireland_H20070705_450eE_api.bin onto the box. I have tried over and over again with no luck so im just looking to see if there are any more suggestions.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes then I presume it was a Starview 1 and you knew which was the correct firmware to use from page 1?

Try the bad flash method on page 1
I had this problem before and took me almost 20 times to get it right but I got it in the end.
That worked! big big big thanks mate thought me trusty sv box was done for. I uploaded the totatly wrong firmw for it and was stuck on a horrible white screen sayin "the box" and no way of gettin into standby. The method of having the firm ready and hit the power button at the same time worked first time. So anyone else having same sort of problem its all up there if ya take the time to look.
Thanks again :-)

The firmware you are trying to download is for an SV2 called "The Box", does it say "The Box" on the front of the receiver? If not you are using the wrong firmware.

I presume you have had version 4 on it for a long time, if so its a genuine box and you need to use Crpytstar V1.4 as per page one. This is for a genuine SV1.

Yeah, i've had it for about a year since i got the box. I tried CryptStar-v1.4-Core400.bin but still no luck. It just comes up 'Flash Update Failed...' after about 5 seconds.
Could it be anything to do with me using a laptop with an adaptor for changing the 9 pin female end of the cable to a 25 pin male?
Thanks for your help.
