I've got "The Transformers" Movie on my computer, but when i try and play it on WMP all i see is green spots. I used Gspot and the movie is on Xvid video format with ac3 audio format. I downloaded all the right codecs, and even deleted the nimec pack, but still it's not working right. When i try converting it from avi to mpg format with TMPGenc all i get is a black screen.
    PLEASE Help!

First things first, green spots problem is kinda common with the xvid codec. It doesn't seem to play well with others. Also there are a number of different versions of it out there. So, a couple questions to ask yourself. Did you uninstall Nimo, reboot, uninstall xvid and ac3, reboot, install xvid, try your video. If it works then install ac3. If it doesn't work, uninstall xvid, reboot, download a different version of XVID, I've had best luck with koepi's stable build, install new version, reboot, try video again. I wouldn't even bother installing your AC3 codec until the video issues are resolved.

On the few times I've had problems I've used Realmedia player or the ATI player that came with my card.

i installed realplayer 8 plus, but i get a message that i don't have the correct audio codec, and so the player can't play the file. so, i went' back and installed the AC3 filter, but still the same message (GSpot doesn't detect any ac3 codec on my computer)

There is an AC3 Filter and an AC3 codec. They are different. If you have the filter go back and get the codec. Leave the filter on unless it causes problems since it's necessary for some divx files.

Well, i didn't find any ac3 codecs (exept for the one in nimec). What i did manage was to replace the ac3 audio using VirtualDub. I checked the new movie with GSpot - it confirms that there is no longer any ac3 sound. yet i still see it in an all-green-screen.
Playing the movie with realplayer 8 plus gives me a good picture, but crashes the program after a bout 30 seconds.
But, I did manage to covert it to mpg using TMPGEnc, so I'll go and burn it as VCD. Still, any advice on the green stuff?

The only reason I know of for the green is another codec not playing well with xvid. Sorry I haven't been a bigger help on that. As for the difference between the filter and codec it looks like I was mistaken, I read a thread by Dela and misunderstood what he said. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/27868 I thought the codec decoded AC3 for DIVX and the filter decoded AC3 for everything else.

uninstall all your codecs you added recently especially that nimo pack. now restart your pc...download and install the latest build of divx pro 5.03. then download and install kopes stable xvid codec. use the divx 2.0 player that comes with the 5.03 to wtch those xvid's. i was having the smae problem. part of it is nimo, i still cant get wmp9 to play my xvids, but divx2.0 works great.

    hello,
i just wanted to offer a suggestion about the ac3 as i have had a lot of problems myself with it. i was using the ac3 filter and whenever i tried to watch movies encoded with ac3 my computer would crash to the blue screen of death. i did manage to find an ac3 codec that works and have been using that. here is the link to where i found it, if the link doesn not work here is where to look. do a google search for ac3 codec, when the list comes up look for one that says "idomi forum" i believe it is the 7th post down you will see a blue link saying working codec. click that and try that one, it works for me. with this codec you will not need the ac3 filrer, at least i do not have to use it, but try it with and with out it. now am not sure about the green spots, but i encode all my videos with xvid and use bsplayer to watch them and it wors great. here is the link to where i found it.

good luck, i hope this helps you out.

I just want to add that i uninstalled any codec i had, and than reinstalled only the new xvid-dec-300303 codec, and suddenly all the movies that used to play with the green spots works fine even on WMP (but i must say that i used virtual-dub to extract the audio and then uses HeadAC3he to convert the ac3 to avi and again virtualdub to insert the new audio to the movie) - Works just fine!!!
Thanks all for all your advices, they helped alot. really.
