Heres my problem. I cant use my full 4 gigs, it will only show a total of 2.48 gigs of ram instead of 4. Now could the reason be the fact that I am using Windows XP Home and wont use the full 4 gigs? Would I need to use Pro or Media Center Edition? My comp seems to lock up on the Asus logo screen too. Heres whats in my comp. 1.Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI-x16 Chipset w/7.1 Sound, Dual Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0, IEEE 1394, Dual PCI-E MB 2.[939-pin] AMD® Athlon-64 X2 4400+ CPU w/ Hyper Transport Technology 3. 2xASUS EN6800GT/2DT/256MB Geforce 6800GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card 4. Thermaltake Purepower 680 Watt Power Supply 5. 4 gigs of CORSAIR ram
how many sticks of ram do you have as presume 4 1gig sticks. appears either you have a bad memory stick or a bad slot on motherboard. try each stick by itself so that windows loads & try it in each slot til all 4 sticks were tried in all 4 slots individually.
Keep in mind also, that XP has a limit of 4gigs total between physical RAM, and Virtual Memory (pagefile). With the pagefile on, Windows will not recognize all the phyiscal memory. Just turn it off. (don't worry, Windows will still use a pagefile, you just won't see it)
My comp shows the 4 gigs, but only shows it using 2.48. Would changing to Windows Media Edition make a difference?
