After doing a clean install of XP with all the latest updates I get this msg when trying to install drivers for new devices:

"Error Message: Cannot Install Hardware. An Error Occurred During the Installation of the Device"

The devices included my printer, webcam and a graphic card driver....

The error stops, if I do a clean install with updates to SP2 only and stop.

I guess for now I'll turn off automatic updates, and stick with just SP2....I've made a ghost image up to this point, and could try the newer XP updates one by one....and revert back if I need too...Any ideas what XP update might be causing this driver installation conflict?

have you made sure that youve installed all of your motherboards drivers before attempting to install the other hardware

I installed the Nvidia chipset drivers prior to updating to SP2.
