I have some files that are either Avi or bin/cue. What would be the appropriate program or programs used for burning it onto to the dvd. Also, what is the file used for putting it on the DVD. Is it an iso, mpeg or what? Also, is it possible for me to also put another file on that DVD if there is space and also can I add mp3s to the files to have a nice stream, such as play movie 1, then 2, then plug it in the computer and be able to play mp3's on it?
Nero Recode for the AVIs and Nero Express for the bins (I'm pretty sure it will work). To answer your questions... Depends, and no. The two most common file formats for DVD-Video are VOBs and ISOs. It is not possible to put mp3's onto your DVD and still have it play in standalone players (or any DVD player for that matter). If you simply want to store these video files long term and play them on your computer once in a while, I would suggest creating a Data DVD with a program like Nero. That way you can put whatever files you like on them.
Thanks, now, will it just play as a video file onto the dvd player, without any menus and such, or is it more like a ps2 iso which still has interface and such. Although it seems impossible to have an interface if it didn't before. What if I had 2 isos on one dvd+R? would it just play one right after the other?
-Umm.. if you made a Data DVD, then you'd be opening the disc through My Computer, or Windows Explorer and selecting the file you want to play. Just like you would double click it off your hard drive. -I don't really know how you can compare a PS2 ISO to a DVD ISO, they really have nothing in common except they are the same file format. SO please be more specific than "interface." Not all ISOs have menus, it depends how the original rip was done. -Well, lets take these AVIs you mentioned. If you're using Nero Recode, then you can use that program to build your own menu, anyway you like. Or you can burn them without a menu, and they'll just play back to back. There are other programs that can convert and burn them to a DVD, some may have menu functions, some won't. -When you burn an ISO to a DVD, the entire disc is consumed in the process. You can't burn multiple ISOs to a disc and have it play in a standalone player. You can put multiple ISOs on a Data DVD, but that won't play in a standalone player either. You'll be opening the disc on your computer and mounting these ISOs on a virtual drive (like Alcohol 120% or DAEMONTools) to play them. -Bin and Cue files are something a little different. Okay, thanks then, Now, I have the demo version of the Nero 7 program, is there a guide on afterdawn on how to change the avi or bin/cue files that I have onto the iso. Thanks for helping out :X
The programs will do the conversion work. You just need to input the right settings, and you can get guides for that here: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ Guides will recommend software, it's best to follow them for good results. Before the new year, we used to link to a very large number of these. However, new copyright laws in Finland forced us to shut a fair number of them down. There are still records of them though, and they can still be found on the internet. So search around, get used to the website, and you'll learn quick. BTW, you say you have a Nero trial? Did it come with Nero Recode? This program can take your AVIs and burn them onto a DVD. You can even make chapters, listings and menus (but maybe not in the trial version). You can PM me if you need more info on the right Nero software. As for your BIN/CUE files, I don't know whats going on with those. For the nero program, I just downloaded the one you gave me a link to, so is there a quick and simple way of using only that program to take my avi into the iso format and burn it to the dvd simultaneously. Mainly because I don't want to download more programs.Btw: the nero program is called nero smart start.
Hehe. Nero won't convert those AVIs into ISOs. It will do some sort of a direct file conversion, but it wont be into ISO format. In the end, you'll end up with a DVD and your original AVIs. Nero Smart Start is simply like an organizer. It can help you pick out the right program based on your required task. Take a look at the left side of the Smart Start window, and tell me if you see a listing of programs. If you do, there should be one called Nero Recode (its also very possible that this program isn't included in the demo). If you see it, select it and the program will open. There you should see an option called "Add Video Files" or something of that nature, select it and select your AVI's. Its pretty easy to use. BTW: Check your PMs.
Just a little correction to dvdsndict statement: this statement is false! I put 1,131 mp3s on a DVD+R and it plays on my computer! It won't play in my standalone because it doesn't play mp3s, but I tried it in other standalone dvd players and it did play. Depends if it plays mp3s! [bold]and Nero Epress can do it![/bold]
