Well, today i put together my new comp.. abit sg-80 board, celeron processor and aspire case with 420watt power supply. When trying to load is where the problem starts. I turn it own and it boots up and says MOS error, or something like that. I hit f1 to continue.. it loads for a few seconds and just shuts off. So i repower it back on and it doesnt show teh mos error thing, but just loads a little and shuts off. It does this repeatedly and i have no clue whats wrong. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Never heard of a MOS error could it be a CMOS error. If so clear the CMOS by moving the little jumper near the battery (for gods sake check your mobo manual and do it right), and if you want remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes.

Also reseat every thing and check the cables are all securley set, these are very basic tips but are teh most common answers to these problems.

Have you wired up a system speaker? If so what sort of beeps are you getting? You could also try your pc components in a mates pc just to make sure they are all working.

Hope I have been of some help.

    Adh Mor (good luck)

When ypur computer boots and it shows the mos error, hit the pause key on your keyboard to stop the computer from booting. Then write down what the error message is and then report back here.

ok, well i got stuff going.. but it kept turning off and i finally found out that it was the processor overheating due to the fact that the power supply couldnt put off enough power. My next question is does anyone suggest any good, preferably cheap power supplies, at least 300w and 12v connector from anywhere? Thanks!

duboy1, Your problems started with a cheap power supply!! You need to spend a little more money and get a 400, 450 or even a 500 watt power supply.

You get what you pay for...... Problems!!

yes, im sure it is the power supply. I tried my friends power supply and it worked great. I think it just made the fan start to spin faster or osmething, but i know its that. So do you have any suggestions then please? Like maybe around $50 for like a 400w? Or what do you guys think i should get? like what are some good reliable brands? Thanks!
