I have a modded xbox with an x3 chip. My 160GB Hdd crashed and will no longer boot the xbox. I bought a new 250GB HDD to replace it. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to install it? A friend modded my xbox and he is out of town for a week, and I don't want to wait to get my xbox going. PLEASE HELP

Do you have autoinstaller CD? Or any CD has the dashboard, apps. Load it up with xbox. You will see some options like format hdd, install dashboard, install emulators, etc... Then choose format hdd to format your new hdd. Then choose install dashboard.

Ok I downloaded the Slayer's autoinstaller. Dropped in the new hdd. and tried to boot from the CD, but all I get is the FlashBIos 3.0.1 blue screen. So I downloaded the bios, followed the directions to make a flash CD, and when it starts to flash, I get a message that says, "Unknown flash! Halting". It is the correct bios. How do I fix this???

YOur xbox worked before. That means chip, bios are ok. Why do you reflash it? Did you flash the right bios for your xbox version? Do you still have the old working bios on X3? X3 has many banks. If you want to flash new bios, then flash it to an empty bank.

Maybe you didnot burn the Slayer CD right.

Can you go back to FlashBIos 3.0.1 blue screen? I know you can load the backup bios of X3. Then reflash it.

right before the old hdd crapped out, I got the same flashbios screen. So I am beginning to wonder whether or not the problem was with the hdd or something with the x3...
Whenever I boot the xbox it goes directly to the blue flashbios 3.0.1 screen. I do not know how to proceed from here..

what do you mean "which bios did I flash?" Iused flashbios 3.0.1, which is what is on the blue screen. I have a v1.6 xbox. I do not know how to flash it through the network.
