hi everyone - hope you're all having a good day! I'm having a problem that i've tried to solve all night and getting nowhere! I've used 'dvdfab decrypter' followed by '1click' with 'vso copy to' multiple times in the past (including yesterday) and had no problems at all - also all 3 have most recent updates and drives have the most recent firmware. last night i was trying to back up (don't laugh please) "survivor: season 7 pearl islands". went through entire process (including using two seperate burners - pioneer DVR-A09XL and lite-on DVDRW SOHW-1673S (via usb)) a number of times and every time all of the above software showed that there was no problem with the burn ... attempted playing discs and player did one of three things each time: started playing and the picture froze, wouldn't recognize as a disc, froze entire player (i had to un and re-plug it to get the disc out) ... very frustrating to say the least. I tried running it through dvd shrink for analysis and it showed just a black screen in the tiny pre-analysis window, i was able to rewind the analysis and found a frame that reads as

"this player is incompatible with region marking of disc"

does anyone have any clue what might be wrong? (shouldn't the decrypter take care of any region marking issues?)

I'm ready to pull my hair out and getting very close to tears of defeat and frustration!

If anyone has any ideas, I'd really really appreciate it!
thank you! have a good day all ...

You're correct, 'dvdfab decrypter' should make it region free. However, are you sure it is not the media that you are using? What media are you using?

using verbatim (checks out as a 'real' verbatim disc w/disc identifier)

I should have asked this before, but is you firmware up to date? If not sure you can check here, http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php

And, of course Identifier should have told you what firmware you currently are using.

Verbatim are great discs, in fact, that is what I use.

hello again ;) I checked both drives with the link you gave me (thank you very much by the way) and the firmware is up to date on both of them. (and also, the discs i've been using are about half-way down the spindle and this is the first (non firmware related) problem i've had with them! Is it possible that the disc I'm trying to back up has an updated encryption code that dvdfab hasn't caught up with yet?
    thx again!

hello! I actually ended up figuring it out on my own! the most current dvdfab decrypter, at the time of this problem, was 01.31.06. the software was just updated feb 12 and that was all it took! Thank you so much for your help - I thought you might like to know that the problems been taken care of! Have a great week!
