Today I reinstalled Nero6.0 after deleting 6.6 due to problems with Nero burning as has been stated in the forum by others as well. I was able to burn one movie, but when I put Legends of Zorro in Shrink, I get the message DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Invalid DVD navigation structure. Anyone help me on this - do I need to reinstall Shrink? Thank you.
It is worth trying to reinstall Shrink, as it is a very easy process. Now, do you put the Zorro movie in Shrink after is Decrypted, or you are trying to decrypt with Shrink?
Thank you for replying - I have always decrpted with Shrink, and recently I have noticed that DVD43 automatically decripts right away. Should I use DVD decrypter first, and then Shrink. I seldom have this problem so I was surprised to see it occur.
DVD Shrink is not a decrypter, using DVD43 would be the prog breaking the encryptio however some of the newer encryptions are beyond its capabilities so many use AnyDVD which is free trial for 21days, once the encryption is broken by AnyDVD then you use DVD Shrink to edit etc and burn.
@keyrom Shrink by it's lonesome can't handle Zorro. You'll need to rip with dvd fab decrypter(ripper like decrypter but still updated) then open the files in shrink and process as usual. DVD43 does 'decrypt' right away but it can also causes problems w/ decrypter and dvdfab decrypter. Since fab decrypter can handle this movie your best bet it to uninstall at least unitl use fab decrypter. It can be found here: http://dvdidle.com/free.htm Edit to add: Gwen ya bet me Geez I type sloooow
@Gwen DVD Shrink [bold]IS[/bold] a decrypter also,it has built-in decryption algorithms, but because it has not been updated, it can not handle the new encryptions by itself :~)!
@cyprusrom, I do not agree with you on this. What you are saying is that DVD Shrink can break encryptions, I think you are referring to DVD Decrypter, which does remove encryptions and as [bold] IT ,DVD Decrypter[/bold] is no longer updated most people use AnyDVD. This is [bold]MY OPINION[/bold] and if someone advises me otherwise this is what I believe is in fact [bold]CORRECT[/bold]
@ gwendolin :~)! It is very good to have stong believes and to stand up for what you believe in...but, is nothing wrong to admitting that one could be sometimes "missinformed":~)! No, I did not mean DVD Decrypter, I meant Shrink! Now, put a DVD in your driver. Run DVD Shrink and Open Disc- it will start Analysis and it will show "Decryption Status" next to that it will display the decryption key. If it is not a newer DVD, Shrink will be able to handle by itself the RCE protection or CSS/CPPM. You don't have to take my word, just give it a try!:~)! Cheers! http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php
ladies and gentleman, cool it. Shrink has its own ripper, but as stated it cant rip everything due to the non upgraded issues. That can also be said about dvd43 so i would suggest you change to slysofts Anydvd which is upgraded pretty regularly
@andmerr :~)! We are cool! At least I thought we were! I know Shrink cannot handle by himself the new DVDs, the matter disputed was if Shrink "decrypts" or not. I think it does. We are all here to learn! And I also know that AnyDvd is the king of all decrypters(at least the ones that I am aware of). But as long as the free progs, like DVDFab and VobBlanker do the job, I did not need it. Plus, is not just a matter of click->copy. I like to experiment, figure stuff out,get involved more than just one click copy. Imagine, if EVERY member here on AD would use Anydvd, DVD43 or something like that, and would have no problems doing any backups, we would not learn too much about the whole process. With every problem encountered, new ideeas surfaces and more knowledge we aquire. But that's just me, and probably not making much sense...:~)! gwendolin, I learned a lot from you, and still am.All I wanted was to make a clarification, that's all! Hope I didn't put any "chips' on your shoulder!:~)
i answered this thread as gwen asked for an answer via a PM.its fine to have opinions and yes even i'm wrong on occasion but you know i do agree with you on finding alternatives. Maybe you might like to try fair use wizard2 , can convert dvd back to avi but yopu dont need anydvd or dvd 43 running and then either reconvert it and then re burn it.It was an interesting concept but time wasting.........i had fun though
@andmerr We all are wrong on occasions, I am wrong more than just occasionally! I still wait to meet the "one" that is never wrong! I guess we're humans. Anyway, if someone can learn something from this is that if you try to backup an older movie, you may not need the extra steps of DVDD or DVDFab or whatever. Shrink might do the job by himself. As for the softs that you mentioned, I really am not familiar with. So you say that the encypted DVD can be converted to avi and then avi back to DVD:~)? Interesting...That sounds like fun, and time consuming! And loss of quality probably! For now, I am just experimenting with all the freebees and nero. ADDED I actually backed up "The 40 y.o Virgin" ful movie, using just DVD Shrink, and some other new movies doing movie only.
@cyprusrom, it appears that on this one I stand corrected. In the time I have been offering advice at this forum I have never offered nor have I seen DVD Shrink offered as a way of breaking encryptions. Apparently it has the capabilities to do so but it would have to be a really old encryption for it to work. As for this reason I have always recommended DVD Decrypter( up until it stopped updating) and AnyDVD as decrypters. As stated we are all here to learn, there's no chips and I am pleased to hear that you have learned somethings from me as I have from many others here at AD/ Cheers.
---EDIT--- Shrink used to get updated frequently. However around the early to middle part of last year, I believe the author went to work for Nero and it hasn't been updated since. I also believe that is how Recode 2 came about. BTW Gwen you definitely look better than cyprusom
@gwendolin Cheers! I hope next time I'm in trouble, you won't hesitate to give me a push! As for the capabilities of Shrink as a decrypter, even on some titles relesed not too long ago, it worked okay. C ya around!
@beltline [bold]BTW Gwen you definitely look better than cyprusom [/bold] Are you spying on me?!!?:~)! You must work for Sony ARccOS&co. How do you know gwendolin looks better than me? I never sent you my picture!
I think beltline plays on both sides, he might be one hired to sit all day and read our forums to see how we bypass the encryptions and then reports back to the computer lab! How else would he know how I look? i mean, I took all the precautions that someone suggested, like lining my room with tin foil, and stuff...:~)!
lol.........but you know that spyware the government runs is so intrusive that it cuts through the tin foil like a knife through butter, maybe re inforce it with lead shielding
