I'm new to all this buring dvd's. I'm getting a dvd burner soon and would like to start copying movie to my hard drive and then burn them to DVD-R discs. What type of burner and software do you guys reccommend without a lot of techincal issues to deal with but stills has good quality. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
@patlifer, Most here at afterdawn like the BenQ 1640 burners. Personally, I like the LG GSA-4163B or GSA-4167B. Software? That depends on whether you are willing to buy it, or want totally free like DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter. I am sure other Members will provide some feedback as well. One MAIN thing I and others will stress. [bold] Use good Media [/bold]. Sony, Taiyo Yuden, Fuji, Verbatim are The Best.
Thanks for the info...As for the software, free or buying doesnot matter as long as it's a good program and user friendly and I don't have to do too many steps to copy and burn a movie.
I also have windows XP and are wondering if there are any conflicts with certain burning programs or burners? Also, in order to copy a movie to a disc, do I need a separate dvd rom or can I just use the dvd burner and copy to the hard drive then burn to the dvd-r disc?
You don't need a separate DVD-ROM drive to backup movies. Although if you had one it would go a little faster. And may I ask why you want to burn with DVD-R discs? In my opinion, you would be better off buying a burner that supports booktyping. Then use DVD+ discs and booktype them DVD-ROM. This way your burned discs should play in every standalone DVD player.
you also mite want to before you get started get some printable dvds yuden i think is the best .you can get them at supermediastore.com and get a epson r200 printer or so (its able to print right on the dvd )and you can fine covers at cdcovers.cc im only saying this because i wish someone would have told me about it when i first got into backing up..just thought i would add my 2 cents
What is booktyping? I've never heard of that. I was under the impression that I had to use DVD-R discs. I have a philips portable dvd player and a panasonic dvd recorder/player.
Heres is an insight into booktyping by alkohol http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/277889#1577028#1577028
What do you guys think of 1clickdvd? Can you still bookype with this program? It seems like a good program for the money.
USE DVD DECRYPTER WITH DVD43 AND DVD SHRINK OR CLONE DVD 2 WITH DVD43. ALWAYS USE DVD +R. I USED THE DVD -R AND MOVIES KEPT FREEZING AROUND 1 HOUR 20 MINUTES OF PLAY. HAVE FUN IT'S REALLY EASY
What blank DVD-R does anybody recommend? I don't want to burn a movie and have it freeze on me. I had this same sort of problem with my DVD recorder and am a little hesitant about getting this problem again while burning.
I have a question with clone DVD...does this program support espisodic burning(Tv Shows)? If not what programs do?
