hi im wanting to buy a sata hd im new to sata ive got 4sata 1 ports on my mobo is installing a sata drive like ide or do i need the sata driver wich came with the mobo wich is a floopy disc
I'm not familiar with your mobo but actually, if you aren't running a RAID array, you shouldn't have to load any drivers. Generally, not always of course, you load drivers for the RAID controller not the SATA controller. When you install Windows Xp you hit F6 then you install the raid drivers off a floppy, not in your case because your not setting up Raid I assume, right?? Your only installing one driver right?? If your installing 1 drive you need to disable raid in the Bios and make sure that these following things are enabled in the Bios.. 1. SATA DMA Transfer: Enabled 2. Serial Port 1 & 2: Enabled 3. SATA2 DMA Transfer: Enabled 4. Serial Port 3 & 4: Enabled
