Got moved so no help yet. task manager, virus????,

I have ran spyware doctor, registry mechanic, spybot but my computer wont allow me to enter task manager ot do other tasks and all my ram seems to be being used causing my computer to act slow. I read about a program hijack this but unsure how o use it. Can anyone please help on how to fix my computer.

Have you got or run an anti virus program, that would be the best thing to do.

See what results you get from that first.

 

Yeah nortons but its not installed properly and it wont let me uninstall it. thats what i am trying to do now

 

See if you can run an online scan, it's free, and if it runs will clean out all but the most persistent nasties.

If you've got XP I suggest you disable system restore first otherwise whatever you remove may return.

It would be a good idea to run scans with trend mirco and Ewido in normal mode and then in safe mode with networking and if you have a xp disable system restore then reboot and enable it because whatever you have could get backed up in there and could return later.
