    Heres another one

    http://www.modem-drivers.com/drivers/11/11335.htm

Yeah know these all look like modem drivers. I know your not using a dial up modem so yank it out of the computer and just use a cable lan card since yeah on broadbandd. This will solve the one problem

have to pull out the cards that are missing the drivers to find out who makes them. the vxd errors appears to be related to networking.

If yeah read the directions of the lan drivers. You install the drivers then it will ask for the 98 cd rom. You insert the cd rom and go do its thing and reboot. No way round it.

pull the cards out & post what is written on them. xp has the same problem if a card is newer than the os. the netcard can be made by realtek, linksys, d-link, soho, 3com & others. the vga can be made by sis, trident, ati & others.

Yup ddp is riht. I decided to load Win 98 on the 800 mhx amd tonight since the old lady took over my good comp. Needed my internet fix. Anyway booted right up and loaded all nec drivers for the lan and even the isa modem win xp wouldnt recognize.

So ddp is right on the ball. That belkin is too new and is going to be a bitch to get drivers to load on. Time to bring it to the pros.."smile"

And yes Im on the amd right now. Surprised since I had to load a gazillion updates from windates.:>

A good thing to do with Win98, is to copy the Win98 folder to your hard drive. This is also applicable to Win95 and ME. (different folder names obviously)

This way, you will have the inf/cab files from Windows on your drive, making installation of hardware faster as Windows will search the drive, and not wait for a the CD to finish...(once you've pointed Windows to look in that directory).

Once you have the drivers, use Device Manager to update them. It works alot better in 95/98/ME, then using the drivers installation program. Simply point Add/Remove Hardware manager (opens when you click on Update in the Device Manager) to the inf file from your network drivers, and when prompted, either insert the Windows 98 CD, or point it to the Win98 folder on your drive.

Hope I am not giving out too many secrets from us gurus....but a great source for drivers, some you never thought you'd see again:

thats what i do with the computers with win98 on it. comes in handy when an app is looking for win98 cd & i just point it to the folder.

Also works great in a networked 98 environment, when a server (or main system desktop) has the Win98 folder for all 98 machines to use.
