    The Striker extreme is too expensive for him and 780i doesn't support DDR2 ram. So it's a toss up between the MSI and the EVGA board. I think I am leaning towards the MSI one.

    look again. both those 780i boards do support DDR2. EVGA is the mobo manufacturer DocTY uses and prefers now. same 680i mobo I linked to I'm pretty sure. I'm sure the MSI is a good mobo as well.

    Sorry I didn't see that. But they are still too expensive. This is Just within his budget. Looks like it's gonna be an EVGA 122-CK-NF68-T1. Wow that's a mouthful!

    rob knowing your case and all I like the PC Power & Cooling 610 and the Antec NeoPower 650 but I don't know anything about the Antec. ;) The psu's I mentioned are oriented so the air would blow out the back of the case. Better in my mind than blowing down thru the bottom of the case.

    Good luck with your choices. :p

    I was wondering how long it would take for the Corsair pimping to get going....

    BTW, I'll put my name in the hat for Corsair FTW!

    The Corsair OR the PC Power and Cooling. I've only heard good things about their PSUs.

    just look at the warrantys and MTBF (mean time before failure) ratings. the only other one that even compares is the thermaltake.

    MTGF is the same for both but the 620HX has a better warranty. 5 yrs vs 3. the 620HX will do everything a 650 (probably closer to 700) watt psu will do since they use capacitors rated at 105C as opposed to capacitors rated at only 85C as most psu manufactures use. Pros: more SATA connectors, better warranty, better capacitors, very quiet, modular and better price at buy.com. Cons: none

    i was getting ready to say the same thing about the MTBF Mort. i couldnt find any warrenty for the corsair. but you pointed out its 5 years... im thinking its the corsair for sure... the 8 SATA is whats
    makeing me go with it over the ocz......hold on we talking PSU's or MEM....lol

    guess if gigabyte sends me a new board, i truely wont know what the problem was. just for the fact it might be another 2 weeks before i get it back, and i will have the new PSU for sure. when that happens i wont be putting it all together with the old PSU. hence. brand new mobo, cpu, and psu. i wont really know which it was..

    @Mort81
    on the Corsair. are the cables long on it? ive read a few reviews about the CorsairTX750 that in a CM RC-690(like mine)case the {SU is at the bottom instead of the top, the 4 pin for the cpu is about 3 inch short. i dont think the TX750 is modular. are the modular cables longer?

    Rob,

    this review states that the 24 pin mobo cable and 4/8 pin power cable are both 20". that should be more than enough. the 750TX is not modular. the only ones that are modular are the HX series.

    rob you'll have to find something that states the length of the cables for the psu of choice. ;) Whether the psu is modular or not the 24 pin, 4/8 pin, and normally the PCI-e cables are still "hot" wired into the psu. ;)

    Russ,

    he can get the EVGA 680i mobo for $15 less and still go SLI with those two 8800GT's. EVGA is DocTY's mobo manufacture of choice now and we all know what he has done with his setups.
