I just downloaded a movie and would like to burn it on a dvd-dl. I would like the DVD to pay through start to finish (like a regular dvd). The file format is AVI and I do have a dual layer capable DVD burner. I also do have Nero Vision Express and Sonic MyDVD, dvd shrink and DVD Decrypter. Information: 1) The AVI movie is in 2 split part's, Half & Half each. 2) How can I make The Quality better on the AVI? 3) A guide that is Region Free, (works on all DVD Players)
nve3 or nve4 should do this. i havent found any avi files on the net worthy of a dl disc. i usually select both files the convert to a file instead of a disk. then run through recode or shrink, and burn.dual layer disk are alot more expensive than single layer and most avi files only go over a sl disk by a few megs. with that little compression u wont notice any difference in quality.
How do I make this into one file then? I did not know that this could be done. I am REALLY NEW to all of this. I want the final video to be fairly clear and not really grainy because of trying to make it small enough to fit on a regualr dvd. I would like the video to play through like a regualr movie though without any breaks.
Try this guide here, http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/272946 using Nero Vision Express 3 or Nero Vision 4 (your choice). Just follow the guide carefully and you'll be fine. If you decided to burn on a DL media, then use the DVD9 tab, if you decided to burn your AVI project into a DVD-R or DVD+R. Plus, if your AVI is over 4.3GB bar/tab and Nero Vision is telling you to "reduce" the quality, then said; NO, but make sure you have Nero Vision burn into your hard drive for the "destination target". Once Nero Vision is done converting and transcoding, just have Nero Recode 2 or DVD Shrink to "compress" as your usual transcoding process and burn into a single layer 4.7GB DVD-R or DVD+R disc.
How Do I join the 2 files so that I can watch the movie as a single file? The movie is split into 2 parts.
See if this is of any help to you, http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/Making a episode DVD with DVD Shrink.pdf HTH, Rich
I went to try it with the dvd shrink and it does not even show my files in the folder that they are in. They are in AVI format if that matters at all.
Here's a guide that may help you, but you must have Nero, AVI into DVD with Nero Vision (simple guide) by Alkohol http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/272946 HTH, Rich
Ok I have done what you have told me to do thus far and so far it is working!!! Now I need to know where to go from here. I have burned the image to my hard drive and need to know how to have Nero Recode 2 or DVD Shrink to "compress" it as my usual transcoding process and burn into a single layer 4.7GB DVD-R or DVD+R disc. Right now it is about 5.9 GB
@sherrilyn If you're going with Nero Recode 2 route, then do as the following: <> double click on Nero StartSmart <> open up Nero Recode 2 <> click on "Recode an Entire DVD to DVD <> under [fit to target], arrow down to "Custom" <> now Enter Custome size: type 4440MB, then OK <> now next to "Video Quality", click on "Import DVD" <> now browse to your hard drive and locate your VIDEO_TS file under your folder/project that was transcoded/converted from AVI into VIDEO_TS (dvd compliance), then click OK. <> click on MORE, Profiles, under Video "Quality Distribution", check on "Assign best quality to Main Movie" <> at "Audio", arrow down and choose "Dolby Digital" or any of your desire Audio, then click OK <> click MORE again to go back to normal <> now click on NEXT and put a check on "Advanced Analysis" <> at Destination, you can choose to burn to your dvd burner or hard drive again (your choice) <> however, if you choose to burn to burner, make sure you have a high quality media inside burner ready to go <> at Folder for temporary files: you can set it to any of your desire location of your hard drive or desktop, once you're done, just delete it <> Make sure you "unchecked" Burn-at-once <> now click BURN and Nero Recode 2 should starts to transcode/compress your 5.9GB to fit perfectly onto a single layer 4.7GB DVD-R or DVD+R disc. <> now just relax, once Nero Recode 2 is done, it will "automatically" burn into your burner. Good luck!! If you're going with DVD Shrink: <> put a high quality media inside your burner (Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim or Hitachi's Maxell "mij") <> open up DVD Shrink <> click on Open Files <> now browse to your hard drive and locate your VIDEO_TS file or project <> then click OK (now DVD Shrink should load your project/VIDEO_TS file real quick) <> once done, click on Edit, Preferences <> under Preferences, arrow to "Custom" and make it 4440MB, then click OK <> at File I/O, under Burn Settings: check on "Enable burning with Nero" <> under File I/O settings: check on Enable Overlapped I/O - this may increase ripping performance, then click OK <> now click on "Backup!" <> under Target Device; Select backup target: arrow down and under Burn with Nero, put a check marked on your burner (this will burn with your burner once DVD Shrink is done). <> at Quality Settings: check on Perform Deep Analysis before backup to improve quality. <> at Burn Settings: under Volume Label; type the name of your movie or project. <> under Burn speed: arrow down and choose 4X, then put a check marked on "Book type DVD-ROM" if you're using a DVD+R disc. (I highly recommend using DVD+R because once it book typed into DVD-ROM it's more compatible with tons of dvd players, but the choice is yours). <> under DVD Region: check on Region Free <> now click OK and DVD Shrink should starts to transcode and analyze right away. That's it... enjoy it!! Once DVD Shrink is done, Nero Burning Rom should open up automatically and starts to burn.
a disc that you Author yoursefl i think is autor region-free, i dont think you can increase quality of AVI, Nero Vision has only one problem, there is a high prob. that the aud/vis will be out of synce i use power producer which works, it ocmes down to user preference... this is just my 2c...
@phantom69 Those settings are for all future DVDs/movies settings not just for AVI. The reason I pointed out those settings is for future use, not just a one time use only. Once the AVI has been converted into VIDEO_TS (or dvd compliance), it should be good to go with "Deep Analysis" for DVD Shrink or "Advanced Analysis" for Nero Recode 2, since the final VIDEO_TS file is only 5.9GB. I prefer Nero Vision over any other software or programs when it comes to AVI conversion. Why? It's simple, fast (depends on your system), you can set its encoding engine to do a "2 PASS VBR with High Quality + Progressive". There are not that much of AVI converters out there that has this process. I've done a lot of AVI and the results are as great as DVD quality. As for the "audio" out-of-sync, you can have k-lite codec pack tweak or run your AVI files through g-spot and tweak it in prior to proceed with Nero Vision. To be honest, I've done more than 30 AVI projects and I have never experienced any out-of-sync audio at all. In the end, it all boils down to the individual's preference and choice. We're entitled to our own preference and judgment, so yes... use whatever that you're more experienced with. Cheers and best of lucks to all!!
When I go to convert the AVI into dvd format and save to my hard drive do I "Burn to Image Recorder" or "Write to Hard Disk FOlder'?
@sherrilyn Always write to your "Hard Disk Folder" aka Hard Drive. I've seen a lot of members (Newbies) at the Nero forum are having issues with "Burn to Image Recorder". With that being said, it's wise to burn it into your hard disk (hard drive).
Ok I have tried to write this thing twice to my hard drive and it keeps in failing right towards the middle. I did save the error log but I do not know what it is saying in there... lol Can someone please help me. I did update my firmware. I am not sure of the make of my burner though as it was installed on my computer when I bought it from Dell. Is there another program that I can use to save and make this into a dvd file to later recode and burn onto a dvd?
sherrilyn, You can cut n paste right here, remember to edit out your serial# that starts with 1A20. And someone will look at it to determine the problem. HTH, Rich
You mean to put the whole error log pasted on here? Here is a part where I seen that it said error but I don't know what it means of if it is even the right part ro figure out the problem. I can paste the whole thing but it is REALLY long... lol [08:33:59] DVDEngine DumpExceptionInformation(): Caught SEH Exception 0xc0000005 during encoding [08:33:59] DVDEngine DumpExceptionInformation(): Exception was raised from C:\Program Files\Ahead\NeroVision\NeroMediaCon.dll at RVA 0x00024cb5 [08:33:59] DVDEngine ######################################################################################## [08:33:59] DVDEngine ERROR [08:33:59] DVDEngine cause: 128 (nmc_processing_exception) [08:33:59] DVDEngine source: _VOBS::_M_do_guarded_processing () [08:33:59] DVDEngine description: Exception during encoding [08:33:59] DVDEngine ########################################################################################
No, that is not enough, start right after where your serial# starts, and then cut n past right here. It is ok, we do it all the time. Thanks, Rich
