Two part issue, I'm trying to backup mafia but i can't get alcohol to work, it always crashes when i click 'start'. I think i got the right 'security' type in but it just always crashes. (i've heard haveing roxio easy cd can cause crashes??) To check the BIN file i tried to just mount the image on a virtual disk but the install always just stops at the a1.dat and won't continue. All help is much appreciated.

There might be two main reasons for your system to crash:
    - conflicts between Roxio EZCD and Alcohol 120%
    - conflicts between Alcohol 120% and your CD-RW unit

I don't think a corrupt image would cause Alcohol to crash immediately, but you can check this way:
    a) Mount the image in Alcohol 120%
    b) Scan it (Action-->Scan for corruption) with CDMage

This is a first check I always suggest to perform: if the image is bad the resulting CD will be a coaster anyway, isn't it.

My general opinion is that Roxio is a bad piece of software, always conflicts with Nero and other software, for instance, and for this reason it will never be installed on my PC.

If you don't want to uninstall EZCD you might try other software (BlindWrite Suite, CloneCD...), but it's a simple guess.

yea...i have the same problem where i place the mafia.bin on the virtual drive and it stops at a1.dat......i'm guessing that i have to place the cue file on the virtual drive instead...but my cue file "is not accesable"....maybe u should try on yours tatertot

yeah.. i tried the cue files but they seemed obsolete as far as the virtual drive was concerned.. but maybe not. I figured it wouldn't work without them but the bin's still mounted. Maybe i'll just have to make my own cue file.. eek

More likely the .dat file is corrupt. Try doing a scan with CDMage (you can load the BIN directly, choosing the 'M1/2352 track' image type)

I'm working with the same file and just got alcohol but haven't installed it yet. All this time I've been extracting the files with winiso and just running the setup from there. It has been working until I got mafia as 3 seperate bin's. Is there any way to install it without burning or creating a virtual drive? I'm working towards getting all the files in a usable zip or exe so others won't have to burn the bins. As far as I know no one has done this with mafia yet because that's not available on kazaa or imesh yet. The bin has the no cd crack in it too so I know it's not the original and probably doesn't have any write protection. If I can figure it out there will be a setup of mafia on kazaa soon.
