How do i keep nero 7 from installing a codec??

    I bought nero 7 premium edition and installed it. I thought it worked great until i tryed to open some avi files i have on my comp. Windows media opened, but it wouldn't play. I noticed under properties that nero had installed an audio codec into WM player. On a hunch i uninstalled nero and it worked. My avi files were playing again. Why did nero install this and is there a way for me to keep nero 7 with out it installing the codec?

    Please help!!
