    Hi, im getting this error on my ext DVD writer I just got when using IMG Burn. What can be done? thx.

    I also tried burning DVD to DVD & no succes either. Mayby my ext drive is a lemon? its odd since it does fine when ripping/playing DVDs.

    Your firmware is also very outdated, current version is 2.FA and can be found here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces

    As suggested, those CMC's are 4th class media...

    And you burner doesn't like them.

    Try the firmware update as LOCOENG stated, this should correct the semaphore error. I had this happen with an external and outdated fw, it is a communication error between the drive and the program.

    thx all I will try updating the FMW & those CMCs have been flawless on my NEC int drive (writen at 4x).

    Sorry but is there any exe files for the firmware? I never had any luck with zip. Im guessing its my ignorance.

    I don't know of an exe file, you just dl the zip and click on it and the exe file will be there, just click on that and it should run. You can dl WinZip here if yo don't have it, but Windows should be able to unzip..

    Did it & flashed new firmware, restarted, & still no luck with Nero.
    Could it be media? If so im a bit peeved that this same media will work in my older ugly drive & not my shiny new one.

    Well people I returned it got a Samsung DVD Writer + Enclosure & it works (knock on wood).

    Glad it is working out for you, as I stated above I had that problem with an external also. I updated the fw and it would burn disks again, only some brands not all. I too finally replaced it with a Lite-on. Sometimes the chipset in externals do not always get along with some computers. Good luck and happy burning.
