I used to be able to burn DVD's until about two weeks ago. Nothing changed - except now, no matter what I do... this is how it all ends up... and I made absolutely NO changes to anything - no software/hardware changes - nothing... just suddenly stopped burning DVD's. Thoughts on how to fix this? 1:50:08 PM #27 Phase 127 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 253 Generating DVD high compatibility borders 1:50:08 PM #28 CDR -1106 File WriterStatus.cpp, Line 164 Power calibration error 1:50:08 PM #29 TRANSFER -24 File WriterStatus.cpp, Line 164 Could not perform end of Disc-at-once 1:50:08 PM #30 Phase 38 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 253 Burn process failed at 2.4x (3,324 KB/s) Existing drivers: File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS': Ver=6.2.0.132 , size=24698 bytes, created 10/22/2003 11:15:02 PM File 'Drivers\PXHELP20.SYS': Ver=2.03.10a, size=20576 bytes, created 7/13/2004 2:03:00 AM (Prassi/Veritas driver for win 2K) Registry Keys: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\AllocateCDROMs : 0 (Security Option)
Can you post the entire logfile (except the first line, with the serial number)? Seems like a burner problem.
I toook the laptop to Toshiba - thought maybe it was a hardware problem - the guy burned a disk using Sonic.... so obvoiusly it still works - but I cannot get it to work using Nero.... Sonic and Nero are known for conflicting. I'm guessing you have an IBM/Lenovo laptop. I have one too: it came pre-loaded with a ton of crap, inlcuing Sonic. I have uninstalled Sonic first and then I have installed Nero (with Nero you won't need Sonic). Nero works for me now. Among the errors you get there is a "Power calibration failed" which makes me thing of two possibilities: 1) Nero's driver are unable to control the drive 2) the drive has issues (but since you managed to burn using Sonic this seems to have been ruled-out) Sonic drivers, among the other thing, control the burner so that you can have "direct access" and use it like an hard drive (i.e.: you can drag-drop files from explorer). I would not be surprised if that functionality is conflicting with Nero. If you are attached to Sonic and don't want to uninstall it, I'd look into that software and try to disable it (check the Properties of the drive in explorer and see if you can disable it. If you can uninstall Sonic I would also uninstall Nero and then re-install it.
Your Nero is several versions behind, go to Nero site and update to 6.6.1.4 Although you still have some memory unused I suggest you close down any unwanted progs including spyware, while you're burning your burner doesnt like your media, try Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden you could try at 4X
using ricoh.. they are generally good.. but try verbs or ty's. i am getting better at reading these logs
THANK YOU to everyone who responded - I'm going to try all these things and will revert back soonest. Your time/assistance is appreciated - you're doing a great job.
I uninstalled Sonic - reinstalled Nero (the version I had) but it still does the power calibration error + cannot perform end of disc. I am trying to upgrade to v7.0.5.4version of Nero but cannot find it anywhere. I find other versions, including v7.0.5.4 but don't know if I should try that instead? Thoughts? I am still using memorex DVD's as I bought 100 of them and cannot take the unused ones back - they worked for me GREAT before this problem. I will try to get a different make (verbatim/fuji), just to see if that works. Also, I shut down just about everything when I tried to burn - including norton, popupkiller, zone alarm, I even disconnected from the internet - so it doesn't seem to be a memory problem. I did burn a disk this morning using Sonic - just as a test (htat worked fine) - so obviously I can still burn things - just don't know where the problem is. :-( Right now, just trying to find where I can get Nero burning rom 6.6.1.4 - can anyone tell me?? Thank you. Also, how do I change the burn speed? Someone recommended trying 4x. How do I do that?
You can download Nero at: http://ww2.nero.com/enu/Downloads.html Pick verion 6 if you want to update the current installation or version 7 if you want to try the new version.
Update to this version of Nero6, it's free of any bugs and should help http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe this is for Nero7 http://httpdl6.us.nero.com/software/nero7/Nero-7.0.1.4b_eng_no_yt.exe This indicates you have Roxio installed, remove it as it conflicts with Nero
Just wanted you to know - I did everything everyone suggested - turns out it WAS the type of DVD+ disk. I'd been using one type for the past year, and never had a problem. SUDDDENLY, out of nowhere, my computer decided it wouldn't write to them any more and I could not burn a single dvd. How weird is that. So after reformatting my hard drive even, and reloading the programs, and changing the drive speed and getting the dvd drive cleaned (nothing worked) - I bought some Verbatim DVD's and it is working PEACHY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH to everyone who helped. Without your support, I would not have resolved this issue. THANK YOU. Thanks gwendolin.
So much for my problem being fixed! I burned 3 DVD's GREAT (these are Verbatim) - suddenly, trying to burn one more - SAME PROBLEM! cannot burn end of disc at once, and power calibration error. I have changed the DVD drive speed to 4x. Anybody, anyone, any ideas at all?????? I can burn CD's NO problem.... but using Nero and DVD shrink - what is going on? One minute it burns just fine! THe next - no way!! HELP!!!!
