My mother is getting a new computer and she is looking for some suggestions. I have a P4 3.0Ghz and a laptop with AMD Athlon 3700+ and the AMD is much faster than the P4 when I create video clips or play games. So no suggestions about Intel. My mother will be using the computer mainly for basic documents like Microsoft Office, watch a video from the internet, and to run programs like Adobe Photoshop CS2. She does not need a computer that will let her play Doom. So I was wondering about how to accurately gauge speed. I don't understand what the difference is between a Sempron 3200+ and an Athlon 3200+. What is the difference between the Athlon, Turion, and Sempron? Recommendations? She will be looking for a computer package rather than a customized one.
Core structure. Quick answer, get your mom the Sempron 3200+....it'll be all she needs. Now, if you really want to get into the tech details, trip on over to AMD's site, they'll have a bunch of data you can crunch on to learn what is really different.
