I'm about to purchase my first batch of Taiyo Yuden's(I currently use Maxell coded Ritek). My question is: there seem to be so many different media codes under TY, i.e. TYG02, TYG01, etc. Is there a better one to buy? And also, DVD+, or DVD-?

Not sure about different codes, but I do know that if your burner can make the DVD+R booktype to DVD-Rom then that is the way to go--I always buy them from Supermedia Store to make sure that I get authentic TY's--because I do know that there are fakes out there--Good Luck

    lube99,

The TYG01 are for speeds up to 4x, TYG02 are for speeds up to 8x, and so on. So in all probably the TYG02, or TYG03=16x would be your best bet. However, this forum suggests keeping burn speeds down to 4x.

    HTH,

Here you can find everything you want to know about TYs, from the docTY:

Also, depending on your burner and firmware update, you might get better result burning @X8 with media rated X8 or X16. Read that forum and you will get a lot of info.
