I've created about 30 dvds of home movies (from old 8mm tapes) using sony vegas software. Now I'd like to pull off a number of small clips off each dvd without loading all the dvds onto my hard drive, to create a kind of this is your life dvd for my daughter's 18th birthday. I've tried to use nero recode to pull off small parts of a dvd, but only the audio will load into sony vegas. Is there an easy way to pull off small portions of a dvd onto a hard drive, without loading the whole dvd to the hard drive? Thanks

I cannot guarantee it will work but you can download DVD Shrink and give it a try, Shrink has the capability of editing. Good luck

I already have Dvd Shrink and was able to pull off a small portion of my home movie dvd onto my hard drive(I didn't know it could do this), this creates a small VOB file on my hard drive. Then I can import the file as a DVD file into Sony Vegas Movie Studio which converts the VOB file into a MPG file in another place on my hard drive. Finally, in Sony Vegas Movie Studio I can rename each clip so I don't get confused as to my time frame.

    Thanks for your help!!!
