I upgraded to a new PC, re-installed Nero and burned cd's ok, except there are no logs being automatically generated.I noticed it first when using Using Nero with DVDshrink.
If using Nero directly, after burning, Nero will ask if I wish to save or print a report and that is fine, but as I say, no automatic output.
Searched high and low on my drive (in the usual places)and checked the Nero site for inspiration.Except for a single hint that 'something' may be preventing their creation, it was of no help.
    Anyone run into this?
P.S. Re-installed Nero, still the same symptom.

I'm not at my home PC at the moment, but you can manually look for them here(i believe):

    Nero 6
    c:\program files\ahead\nero
    look for nerohistorylog.txt

    Nero7
    c:\program files\nero\nero7\core
    look for nerohistorylog.txt

    Thank you for your response.
Yes, I have checked the usual place (Nero 6) Ahead/Nero/
but there is no log there or anywhere on the PC.

    This site:
    http://nero.com/nero6/enu/FAQs_Products_NeroBurningROM_Error-Messages.html#11
briefly mentions some possible culprits, but I can't relate to any of them. The only other software is XP's own drag and drop and as I mentioned, when using Nero directly, it prompts for a report after each burning session, so I know that it could produce the log if it really tried.

I looked at the link and it's not really of any help.
What version of nero6 are you using?, just run the nero burning rom app and under the help menu choose about nero(i believe).

You're running an old version of nero, the latest version is 6.6.1.4 but it's buggy so I not going to recommend this update. Instead update to the more stable and reliable version 6.6.0.18.

First uninstall version 6.6.0.12 buy using nero's general cleantool, here's a link, just follow the instructions for use.

    http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/General_CleanTool.html
Second, once the uninstall is complete, install version 6.6.0.18. Here are the links..

Hopefully this should solve the problem.

Done and done, but made no difference.
I performed two good simulations and there was no log file, however I was clued in when your new version would only allow an administrator to install it.I logged in as the admin, performed the burn, and lo there was a log generated.
Seems that a 'user' can use Nero, but only an administrator will get a log file.
This is a new XP installation and as a security precaution I allowed myself only 'user' privileges for routine work.
Thank you for the assist and the update and now I can contribute if someone shows up with the same complaint.

    Regards, RB.
