I have been ripping and burning dvd's using everything from DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink 3.2, and Any DVD, and now I have added an Emerson DVD recorder to my home theatre and I am currently recording movies from my cable now onto dvd-rw's ..... now heres my question: I will have to finalize the disc in order to record it onto my pc right? And if so... can a finalized DVD-RW be formatted? basically what I want to do is copy the movie onto a standard dvd... and keep my RW's for the tv.... the RW's are too expensive for one time use. I would have used standard but this particular dvd recorder will only take 2x dvd's and all the standards I have are at a minimum of 8x when trying to use these the screen tells me disc error, therefore they cant be used... please help .... S.O.S.
furthering my research into this i just discovered the difference between dvd- and dvd+ ...maybe there is someone out there like me who is equally as absent minded.... in order for these disc to be compatible from dvd recorder (tv) to dvd recorder (pc) they must first be the same.... or at least thats where I stand at this moment... this is where i am having trouble... my tv's dvd recorder is a dvd- and my pc's is a dvd+ so .... i'm unable to transfer from tv to pc .... at least at this point...
ok... got lucky... my dvd rom is a dvd- (it pays to have both) i was right... the video works pefectly.... so it really does make a difference... im still shaking my head at myself for not noticing all these years about the +/- thing...
