    Win XP Pro
    Nero7 Ultra

Can't for the life of me keep Win Media Player from opening any disc I insert in my drives because Nero Showtime never appears on an 'open with' list with the option to put check mark in 'always use the program'. Nero StartSmart yes, but don't want to go through there.

    How to do it?

I don't know exactly the way you so it, but to set the default player for any DVD that I put in my drive:

Double click "MyComputer"->right click on the DVD drive-> click "Proprieties"-> click "Autoplay" and then from the drop down window select "DVD Movie" .Then select whatever program uou want Windows to use and click Select an Action to perform" and then click Apply. As you can see, I don't have the option 'open with' or a list with the option to put check mark in 'always use the program', so I don't know how you are doing. I use that when i want to set the default player for the files already on my PC, not for the removable drives.
    Hope it helps.

Maybe it has something to do with the options you chose when you installed Nero. To be honest, I don't know. This is what I get:

I like autoplay. I dont use the always do this action option though. Because I never do the same action when inserting disk.

The easy way to manage your autoplay menu is with this free tool.

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Autoplay-Repair.shtml

You can add, remove, rename, or anything you want. Remember this will make changes to the regestry so if you are going to play around with this tool and might not know what you will be doing with some of its options. You will want to backup your regestry first.
