That depends if you're going to use the free delivery (which takes 1 week) or not. If you want it next day, it might be slightly cheaper here:

Mort: Looking good. Wow, that is a pretty heatsink. May I suggest unnecessarily pretty? :D I also have the server issues.

    EEEEEEEEKKK

    its to big morty...:(

and greg, are you sure you want a raptor?

they are loud, and have a low cache, and newer 7200 drives like the single platter 320GB, or the 1TB drives from seagate WD and Samsung are coming within seconds of their OS loading, and beating them at game loading.

That really depends which game it is. Games with large file structures such as Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 are subject to load times in minutes using normal 7200rpm drives, performance is massively improved with the 10k drives. They are noisy though.

I resized shaf. they're not too big now are they?

    hey sam,

when you installed your TR ultra 120 did you use AS5 or TR chill factor that was supplied w/ the cooler. I read some reviews comparing AS5 to TR chill factor and they were about even. I went ahead and used AS5 only because TR recommends reapplying the chill factor after 1 year. they sure give ya a nice big tube of the chill factor though.

haha yeah since I got an HR-03 too I have two tubes of the stuff, it'd probably do for a hundred heatsinks! I used Arctic Silver V purely on the basis that I assumed it better than anything a cooler is likely to come with, though from recent research I'm not so sure. A friend borrowed the Thermalright stuff though and said it didn't seem as good - more runny, but then he's not exactly a cooling expert. With my Ultra 120 attached to my CPU purely to the Arctic silver coat I applied when I got my freezer 7 Pro (I haven't replaced the half of what I used that came off on the old cooler when I removed it, just plonked the new one straight down) I pull 43C load on my 75% overclocked E4300 typically. I think that's tremendous considering.

yeah, the tr chill factor tube is 10 times bigger than the as5 tube. the tr stuff looks too messy. I have plenty of as5. still half a tube opened and a full one unopened.

Morty just spit on it!! hehehe. NO don't do that... I used AS5 on my AMD rig and have plenty left but I tried the Zalman ZM-STG1 just for giggles, since docTY uses it, on the E6850 and Q6600. ;) It's nice because it comes in a handy little "finger nail polish" bottle and has the brush for applying it as well. NO mess and easy to use. Anyway you can't go wrong with AS5, slap it on there and get this rig running!!! :p

I'm trying to remember where I read an article that stated an equivalent to AS5, about the same price and all. If I find it I'll post the link. ;)

Morty thanks for resizing, they work nicely now on a 17" LCD. I wish I had something in the 22" range but I don't think the better half is willing to part with any more money until we finish the bedroom. lol.

Where's DeadRum?? /me wants to see more pics of the man cave, colors of green are showing. lol.

edit: for clarity... me don't talk so good sometimes .... lol

I tried some of the zalman thermal compound and in my experience, it's not as good as AS5. easy to apply though. I went with the tried and proven AS5.

everything is going as scheduled and expected. here's some assembly pics. ready to slide mobo tray into case.

sure wish the crossflow fan and additional 4 in 3 device module I ordered was here. be a lot easier installing them while the mobo tray was out.

Why do you need a single platter 320GB drive? You're not exactly pushing silence, and you'd probably get just as good performance from an F1.

This deal is pretty good but I don't know enough about the psu. I put a 550 in a friend's computer and it's working just fine but you'll have to do some research on this one unless the guys here have some input. ;)

link to Antec Power Trio 650 $49.99 after $50 MIR and $30 savings....

That's silly cheap for a 650W unit, and Antecs aren't bad...
