I have some mixed feelings about this supposedely wonderful machine.
Its purposes are great...but I find it not reliable. When I leave my VCR recording I have the absolute certainty when comming back to have a job done. With this DVD recorder is unpredictable. Many times I have ended with a recorded DVD that I cannot read even in the same Philips machine.

My second problem is that everything that I record in this Philips I cannot play it on other DVD-players nor in computer DVD-drives.

Could it be that these machines do not read +R records?

How could I convert these VOB files onto MPEG files?

    Most grateful,
    Bill (ggha)

you need to finalize the disc before it will play on other players including your pc check the manual that came with the recorder to find out how to finalize the discs
