I have been trying to get away to record football games from NFL Package games to permanent storage for several years.

My last attempt is to use a “TIVO (DirecTV) Unit to catch the games and then put them on DVD (Panasonic DMR-ES10).

Games are often over 3 hours and when you record to LP you loose quality. Especially for stop action, slow motion and reverse modes. I have some games saved in MPG mode on my computer and some old games on VCR Tape.

I am trying to get all the games on DVD with the best quality.

Recently I purchased a Sony DVD for my computer that has RAM capability. I have tried recording a game with RAM on the DVD Recorder (best editing capability) and moving it to my PC Sony RAM. I would the like to save it to DVD on the computer

Trying to convert (VRO) file with (AVS –demo product). Lost video quality plus the files went from 3.5 G (RAM) to over 17 G (VOB) files with a lost of video quality.

I want to try other programs. My goal is to get good quality on DVD that I can play in any DVD Player.

    My issues are
    1. Converting VRO (4 Gig) to DVD (4.7 Gig) good quality for slow motion for football games
    2. Converting MPG (9 Gig) TO DVD (4.7 Gig) good quality for slow motion for football games
    3. Converting VCR Tape to DVD (4.7 Gig). I have DL but the media is too expensive.

I tried 1 product and it deleted my MPG on my computer files.

I’ve tried editing MPG with ROXIO but it is much to slow.

Most of the problems I am running into are a result of the large files sizes and the quality of video replay I require.

    Any Ideas?

ok.... first you must be aware that the conversion of any video file can not increase your quality than the original file! use ConvertXtoDVD (the formally quality program of DivXtoDVD). this is a very good good program, but it's not free... the trial version leave a logo on the screen. Try it out and see if it's something you might want. Converting VHS tapes to DVd will show lousy quality on a big screen, just as it would if you hooked up the VHS tape to that same big screen! So the quality wouldn't matter. I would love to have a program that would give HIGHER quality for older video to make it HIGH DEFINITION but that's not going to happen anytime soon! good luck. all my old VHS tapes have been chucked cause of the quality issue..... the only thing I keep is the tapes of my son while growing up, and family get togethers for holidays and such.

    Thanks Nick,

I did not expect an improvement in quality. But I do expect the same quality.

I am trying to convert a RAM Disk (VRO) to DVD (VOB) files. Using one demo program I was able to convert a 3.5 Gig file to a three DVD set (over 17 G) and it had poor quality. I expected that if I had a RAM Disk with about 3.5 Gig that the converted VOB files on DVD would be about the same size.

Will the program "ConvertXtoDVD" to that?

    Thanks Nick, Ivan:

I downloaded and tried the software. It works perfectly.

I am able to convert my ReplayTV and RAM (VRO) files to DVD with good quality.

I appreciate your input. It resolves an issue I have been working on for three years.

I can convert 2 or 3 games a day with a minimum effort.

    Thanks again.
