    Hi guys,

For backing up episodic DVDs to Avi, i've been using lame with the "V 4 --vbr-new" setting, which, for a 40 minute video, gives me a ~50mb mp3 file, which leaves me around 350 mb for video.

What audio programs/settings would you guys recommend for backing up similar videos? Basically, i want the smallest audio file possible, but with decent enough quality (mp3 tho).

    Cheers, Blighter

Also, i should mention that my total file sizes vary, because the number of episodes per season vary, and i want to fit exactly 1 season to 2 dvds.

So basically, if the total file size is 450 meg, i use "v 4 --vbr -new" (gives an audio size of ~40 meg), if it's 400 meg i still use "v 4 --vbr-new" but if it's 350 meg i use "v 5 --vbr-new" (~35 meg)

Could you also recommend what settings i should use (with the programs you recommend) for the various file sizes that i use?

    Thanks guys,

    Blighter
