U need to make a windows 98 strat up disk and u need to boot from the a:\ and that would give u ms-dos mode...

    Check out the link...
    http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm

Put the files on a blank disk and then restart the pc and it should boot from the a:\

    Keep me posted...

y would u want 2 OS on one pc it just confuses the PC???

You're going to run into a few more problems than just DOS mode.

How are you installing 98? To another partition, or hard drive? If successful, it's going to modify the boot files and you will lose access to the XP installation. It's best to install the older operating first, get it going, then install the newest.

It'll be under your Boot Order options. Possibly "boot other device".

Select boot other device and then uder boot order select your use drive as first in the boot order. Hit save and if the external can boot it will then..:>

It's a lot easier if you have multiple hard drives.. You install Win98SE on the C:\ drive.. Then install WinXP on the D: drive (or any other drive you have if the second drive is partitioned).. You'll need to install drivers for peripherals and such on the Win98SE drive, the XP drive "should" have drivers integrated in the OS.. But if not, install the drivers into XP as well.. That's how I did it.. I got tired of using 2 seperate computers and upgraded to this new systems.. Works like a charm with no problems.. Good luck..

    Resepctfully..
