Hey! Can anyone tell me the difference between these two types of recordable DVDs? I bought some DVD+R discs and have been burning onto them with no problems; but I just came across DVD-R which seem practically identical to DVD+R and are cheaper too. Just wanna know if it would be problematic if I started buying DVD-R to burn my movies onto. I realise there must be SOME difference between the two, but I'm not very tech-savvy so can't figure it out! Thanks :)

DVD-R's will play in most stand alone dvd players. DVD+R's tend to play in fewer players. If your burner allows you to booktype, u can burn DVD+Rs as DVD-Roms (this is how store bought dvds are coded) which will enable you to play the dvd in every player.

If you don't have an issue right now keep doing what you're doing. If u can booktype then buy +Rs.

Sorry, still a bit confused! If DVD-R's play in most stand-alone dvd players, wouldn't it make more sense to use them? And I'm totally not sure if I can booktype. I have a feeling that that particular box is greyed out for me when I burn dvds, but I could be totally wrong! :)
