Most movies have several soundtracks and certainly the most common is to have both a 5.1 surround and a Dolby 2-channel track.

Just wondering what is the best practise when selecting audio for encoding to a DIVx AVI file? The output in this case is going to be 2-channel but that doesn't necessarily mean that I have to use the 2-channel audio track as input does it? Does one sound better than the other once encoded?

I just did a quick 1 minute rip from Pearl Harbor and tried encoding both audio tracks. I thought the 2-channel source sounded better for effects but the 5.1 source sounded better for dialog ... go figure.
