    Okay, I'm trying to burn an AVI file to a CD with Nero 6. The file itself is 702 MB and usually Nero will still burn a file that size. However, whenever I add this particular file to be burn, it registers in at around 730 MB, making it unable for me to burn the file. I've been able to burn several files that were at around 702 MB without this problem. Is there anything I can do to shrink the file size so Nero will let me burn it?

    Here is something you can try:
    In Nero Vision, after you load the file you want to convert and burn to CD, click "Edit Movie". It will take you to an interface that will allow you to cut some parts of the movie. You can cut the end piece(that could ne a nice size with only credits) and also a piece at the begining, with the company logo and stuff. You can also adjust the encoding bitrate rate when you make a Super VCD or a DVD-Video, but I don't think is possible for just Video CD. When you are done, click Nect and resume like always.

    There are also programs that will reencode your Avi to a different Avi with a lower bitrate, but I don't think you want to go through that.

    @kate,
    What kind of movie are you trying to burn?
    Is it an Avi, like above mentioned, or is a DVD backup?

    Kate,
    Do you want to burn the movie on a DVD?

    If so, you follow this guide:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/272946

    When you get to quality settings, select automatic. If the file is too big, Nero will ask you if you want to automatically adjust the quality so it will fit on the DVD.

    What disc? If that is the HDD, that means you don't have enough space on your hard drive. You need a bigger HDD or to make room.

    That option is only if you want to burn DVD. You could try Winavi Video Converter

    It has a burning engine, so you can burn DVD or CD(video). You can burn also with Nero after the files are converted.

    I really don't know, as I only burn DVD. But, I just started a conversion to see if it would work for you. I will let you know in a while(my pc is a little antique, rather slow so it will take about an hour.

    Then you should use alkohol's guide and should be fine burning on a DVD. It will fit for sure(I usualy put 2 avis of about 700Mb on one DVD)

    I dont have nero vision and it said i needed that to burn dvd movies. When I bought the External DVD Burner it came with a disc that had Nero Startsmart on it, so I am assuming this is just a Trial version. Is there any software that I can download that doesnt cost 75 dollars to burn off my dvd movies??
