Bit torrent against newsgroups, in my opinion it's like comparing a Lada to a Rolls. In the last 2 years I have manage to download about 180gb from bit torrent sites. A colleague told me to try out newsgroups, hadn't heard of it but looked into it. I have only been using it since last weekend and have already downloaded 40+ gb.

There are a couple of snags.

If your ISP doesn't provide newsgroups then you have to pay, Blueyonder (UK) give it free I don't know of any other ISPs. I am with AOL they certainly don't. I am using Thundernews.com, they seem to be one of the cheapest and offering a selection of packages, I opted for the unlimited package for 1 month, costing about £11 or $19.00 for the month, well worth it so far. You also need a newsreader, Thundernews provide one free, but I got newleechers from pirate bay. To access the NZB file to download all the goodies you need to register with another site, I am using newsbin.com, £2 for two months.

Now for the speeds, you get the max download speed and sometimes then some. I have a 2mb connection and should only be able to get 256kbps, I have seen it up at 297kbps, go figure. Can't wait until I get my 8 mb connection.

[bold]Be interested to hear if other people prefer BT or Newsgroups[/bold]
