Hi I have been transcoding and burning avi files to DVD using NeroVision. Is the picture quality maintained during the transcoding process? The whole process takes a lot of time especially if using the 2 pass setting. Am I better off to just get a Divx capable dvd player and watch the movies in the avi format? (this eliminates the whole transcoding process). Is the picture quality better that way? What are the pros and cons for those with experience? Thanks

The picture quality will definetely be changed. Depending on how good is the quality of the original Avi, most of the time I cannot notice a chgange when whatching on tv, after I convert to DVD.
If money is not an issue for you, I think a DVD player that supports Avi/Divx format is great. it eliminates the conversion time and saves a lot of disc space. You can fit about 7-8 movies on one disc, depending on the size, instead of one or two.
